Meet the team

Lynda Povey – Enterprise Adviser

Fellow of the International Enterprise Educators programme. Prior to working in Higher Education Lynda worked in the pharmaceutical industry for 12 years focusing on business development, sales and generation of new leads. Upon leaving the pharmaceutical industry Lynda set up two of her own commercial ventures. Having worked in higher education for the last eight years, Lynda’s strengths lie in supporting academic staff to develop enterprise education across the curriculum. This involves co-designing and co-delivering a wide range of workshops and tailored units to undergraduate and post-graduate students.

Other responsibilities include leading on the Self-Employment Placement scheme, startup programmes eg, RoutetoStartup and Social Startup and managing the Tier 1 Graduate Entrepreneur endorsement process for international students.

 Eilish Gorse – Enterprise Adviser

Eilish has worked in a variety of industries such as technology, pharmaceuticals, banking and airlines as a trainer and project manager. She ran a small information technology consultancy company for several years. More recently she completed her PGCE in Science and has worked in education for the last 7 years. She has a personal interest in career coaching and helping young people design a life where they are ‘in their element’.

Eilish joined the nest enterprise team in summer 2017 and enjoys working in such a forward-looking and supportive team whilst mentoring bright young people full of innovative ideas. One of the main aspects of her role is to support academics with helping students to develop their enterprise skills. This could be in the format of tutorials or embedded in new course units.

 Carley Hawkins – Enterprise Events Co-ordinator

With a background in marketing and event management, Carley is passionate about supporting students and graduates to develop their own business and enterprise skills.

Having worked in the enterprise arena for the past 11 years she has a wealth of knowledge and collaborates with a wide network of like-minded individuals.

Carley’s focus is on the extra-curricular activities, including workshop delivery, one to support and project management. Key projects currently include the successful inter-University ‘Dynamo Challenge’, selection and coordination of UoP students for the European Innovation Academy and the annual Enterprise Showcase.

 Rus Weeks – Enterprise Assistant

Rus is the newest member of the nest team. A University of Portsmouth graduate and self-proclaimed super nerd. Rus studied, BA (Hons) Business Enterprise Development and he comes with a background in data control, analytics and team management. He is particularly adept at finding efficiencies and re-engineering processes.

Knowledgeable in IT and emerging technology, ensuring he remains up to date, with the latest advances and innovations; both useful and otherwise.

His role within the nest team is to be the first point of contact for students and graduates. His domain spans from the nest inbox and website management to keeping nest social media presence active. Rus provides online development support to the two Enterprise advisors as they work with University academics on embedding enterprise and entrepreneurship in the university curriculum.
