Enterprise Showcase 2019

The Enterprise Showcase is a fantastic opportunity for us to recognise and celebrate some of the amazing entrepreneurial talent of our students, graduates and staff on show at the University of Portsmouth.

Award Winners

As part of the event we had a series of awards, some of which are nominated by the nest team and others by you – the general public.

Our 2019 award winners are as follows:

Route to Startup Award

This award is to recognise students/graduates who have attended the Route to Startup programme and have shown commitment to developing their business idea, taken full advantage of professional support and guidance available and positively contributed to the workshops.

1st – Nikoletta Csaben, Science (BSC (HONS) EXERCISE AND FITNESS MANAGEMENT) Student

2nd – Theodora Mitroi, Humanities (BSC (HONS) CRIMINOLOGY WITH PSYCHOLOGY) Student

3rd – Bianca Nicholson, Humanities (MSC CRIMINAL JUSTICE) Student

Self-employment placement Award

This award is to recognise the development of students currently undertaking a placement year to develop their own business. The criteria for this award is as follows; positive mental attitude and business mindset, development of business idea, personal development and utilisation of networks.

Startup Funding Standout Student

This award is to recognise the development of students who have benefitted from the Santander Universities UK and HEIF seed funding. The criteria for this award is as follows; development of a business idea, growth and impact felt from recieving the funding, personal development and utilisation of networks.

Social Startup Award

This award is to recognise the contribution of our students, graduates & members of the public who have attended the Social Startup programme.  The winners of this award have productively engaged in the programme, progressed with their idea demonstrating a strong social focus and consistently displaying determination, passion and flexibility.

1st – Stanley Palmer (Member of the Public)

Enterprise Educators Award

This award is to recognise the contribution of our academic staff who have proactively engaged with the nest team, embraced the entrepreneurial spirit, developed enterprise units within the curriculum and or taken on the role of advocate and ambassador of enterprise.

Alumni Recognition award

This award is to recognise a University of Portsmouth graduate who has excelled at entrepreneurship since leaving university, demonstrating passion and innovation during their startup journey.

Emmanuel Merody (BA (HONS) BUSINESS ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT)

Staff Entrepreneurial Spirit of the year (Public nominated award)

This award is to recognise  a member of University of Portsmouth staff who has demonstrated an attitude and approach to thinking that actively seeks out change, rather than waiting to adapt to change. It’s a mindset that embraces critical questioning, innovation, service and continuous improvement.

3rd – Sandra Johnson, (Research and Innovation Services)

Student/Graduate Entrepreneurial Spirit of the year (Public nominated award)

This award is to recognise a student or graduate who has demonstrated an attitude and approach to thinking that actively seeks out change, rather than waiting to adapt to change. It’s a mindset that embraces critical questioning, innovation, service and continuous improvement.

Startup of the Year (Public nominated award)

This award is to recognise a student or graduate startup who has demonstrated not only commitment to their business but potential and growth. Utilising opportunities, identifying their uniqueness whilst driving forward to make an impact.
